The Anne Arundel County Tennis Association (AACTA) founded in 1967, is a non-profit, volunteer run organization promoting local interest in recreational tennis through ladders, team tennis, tournaments, and social events. AACTA is the umbrella organizaiton for USTA league play and junior tournaments. Participating players come from all over Anne Arundel County including Annapolis, Severna Park, Pasadena, Glen Burnie, Crofton, Millersville, Davidsonville, Edgewater, Severn, Arnold, and surrounding counties as well as Baltimore City.
Ladders
AACTA has six different "bumper" ladders for men and women which provides an excellent opportunity for meeting and playing with other tennis enthusiasts. Singles and doubles matches are played on public courts according to your own schedule. The ladders are posted on the AACTA web site where you can find players match histories, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses. You report your scores via the Internet which is updated immediately. End of the season trophies are awarded at the fall social.
Team Tennis
Each summer, players at any level can sign up to play AACTA Team Tennis. These social, co-ed teams play singles and doubles, one evening a week, during July and August on public courts. Trophies are awarded to the winning team.
Tournaments
AACTA sponsors a fall tournament, and a spring tournament in conjunction with Annapolis City Recreation Department. Entry forms and results are posted on the AACTA web site. Trophies are awarded for winners and runners-up in the main and consolation rounds.
Social Events
AACTA sponsors an End-of-Season party in November at an indoor facility. For a minimal cost, members play social doubles, eat, drink, and hear brief reports from the AACTA board. Awards for ladder winners and team tennis are presented at the party.
