- Each Team (AACTA members only) would have
all levels of play, men and women.
- Deadline for entries is July 2.
- Starts July 12 and runs for five to seven
weeks (depends on the number of players) on Monday evenings starting
at approximately 6:00pm. Rain date is Thursday of the same week.
- All matches played at the same time at
the same place at pre-selected locations (Truxtun Park, or South River High School, or Broadneck High School, or Severna Park
High School, or Annapolis High School, or Anne Arundel Community College). See Schedule.
- Aim for "even teams". Teams
will be chosen in a "NFL like" draft on July 5.
- Competition between two teams, defined
as an event, will probably consist of 5 matches (again, depends
on the number of players), most likely doubles, but singles are possible.
- Each week, match opponents will be negotiated
between the two teams' "captains", "blind draw"
used only as a last resort. For instance, if negotiated, aiming for evenly competitive matches, regardless of the gender of the players.
- Each team would have more players than
were able to play in an event. Everyone on a team would play in
at least 40 percent of the scheduled events. So players signing up for
AACTA Team Tennis agree to play at most seven times in 7 weeks or
as few as two times in five weeks.
- Matches will have "normal" tennis
scoring - best two out of three sets with 12 point tiebreaker
at 6 all. For options on not playing a full third set, see Rules.
- "Trophies" awarded at
end of "season" for the team with the most points.
