2011 AACTA Team Tennis - Info
  • Each Team (AACTA members only) would have all levels of play, men and women.
  • Deadline for entries is July 2.

  • Starts July 11 and runs for eight weeks on Monday evenings starting at approximately 6:00pm. Rain date is Thursday of the same week.
  • All matches played at the same time at the same place at pre-selected locations. You will sign-up for a team that will play their 'regular season' matches in Either the Northern Or Southern area of the county.
    North Division - Matches played at: Arundel, Chesapeake, North County, Severna Park High Schools.
    South Division - Matches played at: Annapolis, Broadneck, South River, Southern High Schools.

  • Aim for "even teams". Teams will be chosen in a "NFL like" draft on July 5.
  • Competition between two teams, defined as an event, will probably consist of 5 matches (depends on the number of players), most likely doubles, but singles are possible.
  • Each week, match opponents will be negotiated between the two teams' "captains", "blind draw" used only as a last resort. For instance, if negotiated, aiming for evenly competitive matches, regardless of the gender of the players.
  • Each team would have more players than were able to play in an event. Everyone on a team would play in at least 40 percent of the scheduled events. So players signing up for AACTA Team Tennis agree to play at most eight times in 8 weeks or as few as three times in eight weeks.
  • Matches will have "normal" tennis scoring - best two out of three sets with 12 point tiebreaker at 6 all. For options on not playing a full third set, see Rules.
  • "Trophies" awarded at end of "season" to the team winning the event between the two Division champs.
